James began painting in Monochrome (Black & White), then charged to colors, normally only in 2: Here are Oranges and Greens.

The 'Masking Tape' was removed (or it finally 'fell off') that the artists put around the edges so light would not show between the frame and the board!

J. Gibson 'scratched' into the paint, here showing as orange (backdrop)... as was usually done!

A bit of info, if you did not know; when Artists begin a painting, they first paint the board / canvas in a primary color (called the 'backdrop', here it was orange), then they begin adding the 'Details'! So when the Highwaymen Artists 'scratched' their signature in the wet paint, in usually showed up as the 'backdrop' color!

They ALMOST match this painting... Same time period, but more yellow and a TON of Pallet Knife work !! We display them together, and they look like a 'Triple Set'.
