An EARLY Painting by Florida HIGHWAYMEN Artist JAMES GIBSON... 

A Yellow / Orange / Green - ' Moon Lighted Lagoon '

 Nearly 60 years Old!!  A late 1950's - very early 1960's painting on UPSON Board with the Original 'Highwaymen' frame: 13" x 22" - Overall Framed 16.5" x 25" 

This painting is as close to ORIGINAL as you will every 'get' ... complete with 'UPSON', Tape' and 'the' Nail Hole !

Now... THE HOLE!!  It is NOT damage... but fully intentional! And it adds to the 'True' originality of this painting.

I was going to ask James to repair this hole... But I mentioned to Kelvin Hair (Alfred Hair's son - a close friend of ours), and he said Don't do It !!  This is SO original.  Back 'then' (talking the 50s!!) a painting this size sold for only a few dollars; and the buyer often just 'nailed' it to the wall!!  Putting the nail as close as possible to the frame.. and CENTERED!

HOWEVER... If you would like the 'hole removed'... No problem... James is also a close friend... It can make it 'Disappear!!

Now.. Back to the Painting!

By 'now', James had 'left' doing his Black & White 'Mono-Chromes', and began adding Color.  Not VIBRATE... but just COLOR !!

And the J. Gibson signature is 'scratched' into the paint... as was usually done!
