Original FACTORY ' R ' Marked 1964 65 356 C - SC Emblem

And below, is the ' R ' on this ORIGINAL FACTORY EMBLEM !!!
"What is an 'R' ?" Okay... here is what I have 'found' over the Years !!
Factory Installed Original Porsche 356 A B C Emblems came with the...
'R' stamped on the Back!
On Original, FACTORY Installed 'PORSCHE' Emblems... there is an 'R' inside of a Circle stamped on the back of the emblem. From what I have found, ALL Original 356 Emblems (on car from Factory) had this 'R'... AND SOME of the 356 Dealer replacement emblems purchased directly from 'PORSCHE' in the 60's and 70's. Once the Inventory in the Dealerships and Warehouses (here and Germany) were gone... No more 'R'!! The emblems were still available... from Germany, but NOT through 'PORSCHE'. Actually... I have always said that No One would KNOW!! A 'Concourse' Judge is NOT going to 'Pry off' an emblem to check for the 'R'!! HOWEVER... they seem to have been made Heavier and Better than the later (AND Current) ones... AND some people still 'Want' that original emblem! HOWEVER... If I was buying a $100,000++ Speedster... I very well Might want to see that Emblem's ' R ' !!
It can be Re-Gold Plated... for a reasonable amount ( I was quoted $25.00 for an 'SC' Emblem... 10 years ago!! ) and now you Do have a truly Original Emblem!!
